TESTIMONIALS

I was at a point in my life where I was realizing I needed to make changes to my health moving forward. I was trying to find ways to incorporate new healthy habits into my life. While working with Ruth, I was able to get helpful feedback and suggestions about steps I could take to achieve my goals. It was helpful to hear from someone outside of my situation to give me feedback on what I was doing well and ways I could make improvements.  I enjoyed working with Ruth. She is kind and thoughtful. Her education and experience was useful during our sessions. I appreciated her honesty even if it was hard to hear what she needed to say at times. I liked having someone to talk to about my goals who was able to help me work towards becoming healthier. I liked having someone to be accountable to.  I learned that just taking a few minutes throughout the day can be helpful in bringing your awareness to the present moment. I learned new strategies to incorporating small changes into my lifestyle to work towards my health goals. I also got some useful dietary information.
Having someone to be accountable to and talk with is very helpful. I learned small changes make a difference and that even though we may not reach all of our personal goals all the time, we are still making progress by showing up for ourselves and being aware of our habits and actions.
I would recommend coaching with Ruth to my friends and family or anyone who may need some support with their health goals.

“Peter's insightful inquiry helped me be honest with myself about what was keeping me from pursuing the things I wanted to achieve. He helped me develop strategies to overcome limiting habits I had been struggling with for years. My coaching sessions with Peter have had a lasting impact because all the insights were earned through a kind of honest work that leads to a unique empowerment that I can’t help but continue to pursue.”

My name is Sue Ann. I worked with Ruth in a previous job, she is a phenomenal nurse and person. She was always thorough and professional, and at the same time being thoughtful, adding her own personal touch.

I definitely made personal progress with my procrastination and drive while working with Ruth as a nursing coach. Ruth has a way of bringing out the best in people, without judgement. She can see things easily that I had clouded judgement over. Every time we had a session, we would go over my goals, my progress, how I was doing, and where i could improve. Ruth would remind me not to be so hard on myself, and to remember to do some self-care.

I will always be grateful for the time spent with her guidance and direction, every moment with her was worth it!

“Working with you was instrumental in helping me figure out what I want from life, breaking big goals down into a series of small concrete achievable goals to help get me where I want to go, and in learning self-calming practices and self-encouragement strategies that can be used as tools to help me get unstuck from negative thought patterns.”

Working with Ruth has been an incredible experience. She asks thoughtful questions that challenge me to reflect on my goals and the progress I’m making, but what I appreciate most is her ability to hold space for me to work through things at my own pace. She offers just the right balance of support and guidance, creating an environment where growth feels both natural and empowering. I’m truly grateful for her coaching!

I had the pleasure of having several coaching sessions with Ruth. I didn't realize how good it would feel to talk to Ruth about some of the things that bothered me. I work in sales which can be mentally exhausting. She listened intently while I spoke a blue streak. And before I knew it our time was up and I was still on a role.

For me, speaking with Ruth, was a release of anxiety. I can not change what other people do or say. I can only control myself and if I choose to react to it.

I plan to continue my sessions with her. She offers me good insight.

I first contacted Ruth in response to a request for volunteers for health coaching. I had not had a great few years and had lost my life partner two years ago.  He had suffered a stroke two years before that so had required total care before his death.  In addition to that I had a recurrence of breast cancer twice during his convalescence.  Four months after his death I was diagnosed with uterine cancer with metastasis to my lung.  In short I was sad, lonely and in need of direction. The winter had been especially cold and snowy and I had been driving to Boston every three weeks for chemo.  My meetings with Ruth were by Zoom which was somewhat new to me but I caught on quickly with her help. Our first meeting was February 24th and we established a relationship fairly quickly. I was comfortable sharing my story with her and she was supportive and understanding.  We first discussed some anger issues I had with my partners son who had been very difficult to deal with during his father’s care and so thoughtless at the end. She helped me work through those feelings and we then focused on ways to get me out of my slump.  When my partner was well we had a very active life style with lots of travel and skiing so I really had a complete life change. In addition to being alone I was dealing with the cancer and chemo. Although I have a supportive family they do not live close. Ruth and I focused on getting my energy back with walks and exercise classes. This became easier as the weather started to improve. We also talked about taking short trips.  My first great-grandson was born shortly after I started meeting Ruth so that became the focus of my first trip to South Carolina.

After five weeks I feel more focused and have planned two more trips, one a month. I also have more energy not that my treatments have stopped and the weather has improved. I found my meetings with Ruth very helpful; she was kind, understanding and supportive. Even though we just had five meetings it made a difference in my life.

Basically my life was stalled. I was drowning in piles of stacked papers, closets crowded with too much clothing and an over abundance of fear that someone would find out where I live and come for a visit.

A neighbor asked “Why do you need all that?” while pointing to the many, many boxes of unfiled papers in my very large living room closet.

Another neighbor said, “I came to see you not your house!”

After my first session of Ruth’s coaching and suggestion that I set some goals, I decided the areas that I needed to work on were - you guessed it -  sorting and filing papers and declutterring my home starting with my clothing.

I drew up a daily schedule which included exercise and periods for defined activity - either filing papers or working on clothing. Monday, Wednesday and Friday featured water aerobics and papers with Tuesday and Thursday scheduled with chair yoga and work on clothing.

I got fired up!  The idea that I could invite people over after working on my space was the impetus that I needed. At the end of the first week I had collected papers and set about filing and shredding. I had gone through my bedroom closet and started considering clothing categories  - daily and exercise (T-shirts; sweat pants; swimsuits; leggings; jeans; shorts; long, short and sleeveless tops) dressy - dresses, skirts, dress pants, blazers)  and outerwear - hoodies, jackets and coats.

By the second coaching session with Ruth, I decided that I needed to adjust my thinking from being retired to having myself and my space as my  ‘job’.

What a change in attitude. I was starting to think that despite all the required effort, I was excited to work toward a state of non embarrassment and not being overwhelmed by stuff.

With Ruth’s help, I have learned that pacing myself is important. I break tasks into manageable chunks,  take breaks and switch tasks to avoid boredom and acknowledge and reward progress.

After several weeks of coaching, I have developed the habit of adding goals to my list and marking off tasks that have been completed. I am no longer stuck and am hopeful that by continuing to work with the systems I have set up, I will continue to make progress.

Ruth was able to suggest that my gathering things together wasn’t enough - that I needed to make another pass.

Despite deciding to keep discarded clothing for 6 months, I’m pleased to report that 3 X-Large bags and 3 smaller boxes have been donated. I have recycled a contractor’s bag and a large box of shredded papers and filing is caught up.

I have cleared the counters and the tops of the kitchen cabinets. The shoes are in labeled boxes. Tools are sorted and in clear shoeboxes. Fabric will be next.

I’m still a work in progress. I’m no longer stuck and my well-being has improved greatly.

Ruth was firm but kind when she thought I had not done what I should have done. I wasn’t sure how coaching with her would go since she is my daughter  but she was easy to talk to.

If you are at a crossroads in your life for whatever reason consider spend some time conferring with Ruth.

Working with Ruth was a pleasure and a great opportunity to learn more about myself. When I started working with Ruth, I felt stuck, stagnant and struggled with motivation to do the things I wanted and needed to do in my life. Together with Ruth's help, we were able to make plans to implement healthier practices into my life, create time to do the things I enjoy and motivate me to sign up for a 10k! I always felt safe and comfortable talking with Ruth about my struggles and never felt judged in the safe space she creates. I would recommend Ruth to anyone who is looking to improve their health and advance their lives!

I had the pleasure of working with Ruth for mindfulness sessions. We worked together for five weeks and every week I looked forward to our sessions. I was newly pregnant at the time and not feeling my best. With her guidance through mindful breathing, I learned to relax, calm down after a long day of work and it helped me get through some rough weeks of my early pregnancy. Ruth is a greater listener and has a very kind and calming voice that makes you feel very comfortable. Before our sessions, I felt like I was always tense and didn't know how to use the art of breathing to calm myself down and relax. After working with Ruth, I am more aware of stressful moments and I am able to reconnect with my breath and take a few deep breaths that center me and help me calm down.

I would recommend Mindfulness to anyone with stress in their life and I would recommend Ruth as a coach. I would work with Ruth again in a heartbeat.  Thank you Ruth!
